On April 15, 2010, the education community lost one of its most inspiring leaders, Brian K. Betts.
Brian was a tireless advocate for education, a passionate member amongst his community, and a loyal friend and mentor for educators and students.
Brian Betts began as a classroom teacher and over the span of twenty years emerged as one of our nation’s most creative school administrators. He believed that educators must address the whole student, find the motivational ‘trigger’ within each learner, and reconstitute schools into environments where all children can be successful.
Throughout his lifetime he supported the belief that effort equals success. In keeping with this mantra, Brian Betts maintained extremely high expectations for himself, his staff, and most of all, his students. While addressing a group of his students, he challenged them, saying:
“I will not let you be average.”
He spent every day dedicated to that purpose.
