West Potomac Park was a perfect venue to hold the first BKB Annual 5K Run/Walk. The Washington Monument in the background was a beautiful sight in the early morning hours on the day of the race, May 19, 2012.
There were 313 registrants and 241 finishers for the race. The success of the race can be attributed to a great number of people. Thanks to our committee members for their dedication and hard work. It takes a great team to make something like this come together and be successful. Also, a special thanks to all our volunteers who gave up their Saturday morning to come out and work for such a great cause. Of course, without our great sponsors and donors we couldn’t have had a race at all. Thanks for your contributions.
It was such a pleasure to see some of Brian’s former students participating in the race and working as volunteers. He would be so proud.
All proceeds from the race will benefit the Brian K. Betts foundation and will be used for scholarships, grants and educational activities for those students and faculty who wish to continue their education. Proceeds will be posted when everything is finalized.
Thanks again to all of you for your support of the race and of the BKB Foundation.
